Terms of Service
The WGTE Build Your Own Website™ is available to any educational professional employed by a school or engaged in homeschooling. The service allows eligible users to create and maintain home pages on the World Wide Web for their schools, classrooms or homeschools.
The Public Broadcasting Foundation of Northwest Ohio (WGTE Public Broadcasting) is not responsible for content or hyperlinks that may be considered offensive, obscene or illegal. WGTE Public Broadcasting further reserves the right to remove any such material from user web sites or to cancel user accounts and take down web pages at its sole discretion.
It is intended that user pages will be educational in nature and will serve to facilitate communication between teachers, schools, students and parents. WGTE reserves the right to remove content from user pages which, in WGTE’s judgment, fails to conform to these guidelines. Examples of content which will be removed from user sites include, but are not limited to, discussions of school district policy, airing of grievances or other union activities, solicitations for, or offers of, items or services for sale.
Users retain the copyright to any original materials posted on web pages hosted by WGTE Public Broadcasting. However, WGTE reserves the right to reproduce or distribute, in any manner, text and media from any user’s page(s) for educational, training or promotional purposes. Further, the user warrants that any materials posted on a web page hosted by WGTE Public Broadcasting are original, or otherwise authorized for use on that page.
User pages will remain on the WGTE server for 365 days from the day on which the account application was accepted. At the end of that term, the user will be given the option to renew his/her application. If the user does not respond or chooses not to renew the application, his/her page(s) will be deleted from the server.
Users wishing to post images, portraits, photographs or likenesses of student minors must submit a release form, signed by a parent, for each child whose image or likeness will appear on the web page(s) to the WGTE Build Your Own Website™ Administrator before such images can be posted. Printable copies of the acceptable language for these releases can be found here.
Each user is allotted a total of 3 megabytes (MB) of hard disk storage on the WGTE server. Users may monitor space used and space remaining via the Online Account Manager. Users who exceed their allotted space will be contacted and asked to reduce the size and/or number of files on their web pages. Failure to do so may result in the removal of files from the user’s page(s) by the WGTE webmaster.
